Realizing that the best way to spend a week in Truk is aboard one of the livaboards, Does anyone have any feedback on the land bases options, particularly the Truk Stop hotel? :42:

Blue Lagoon is the best land based, but they do have a good restaurant there. The area the Truk Stop is in is not the greatest and can be loud at night. I have not stayed there but talked to others who had.

Stayed at the "Truk Stop" in 1999. The rooms were fine the location not the best. Don't remember much about the food.
I was with a group of about 16 if I remember correctly. To a person, I don't think any of us would stay there again.
Biggest problems where with the owner. Not much of a people person.
In 2001 we us the Odyssey. Fantastic boat, crew everything. Would only use them again if I make it back. http://www.trukodyssey.com/

Thanks. I was looking for a little cheaper option than the Liveaboards, but I guess you get what you pay for in this location. Ken :42:
