This is some kind of wreck diving. Done 13 dives on Truk and loved each one. The history of the places mixes with great diving and scenic surroundings to make it a mind blower. A treasure of memories. It's pinnacle in diving, for me anyway. If you were thinking about going, GO! It's worth the lousy trip over.:)

Off to Yap in a few days

Make sure to meet up with Mike Veitch. He posts here fairly regularly and is a top guy. I'm sure he'll take care of you!

Will do. I'll be looking up another Board member while I'm there on Yap, that will be there the same time as me.

It has been great diving here on Truk. Blue Lagoon was good too. Great dive op here.

DiveMaven:
I hope you post a full trip report when you return. Have a great time in Yap!

Got into Yap early this morning. Manta Ray Hotel seems nice and Yap Divers really has it together. Said hi to Mike Vetch. Will let you know what the diving is like. Will be diving in a few hours.

Met Pilot Fish yesterday and we have chatted a few times today. I know he encountered Yap's legendary mantas this morning so the trip is going well!
But, didn't see him on the dance floor last night.. ;)

Was in the Mil Channel this morning and saw a few large manta come in to the cleaning staion. Each one swam over us and around us. It was early, 7:30 am. The next dive was not so lucky since the tide had changed and weater was not as clear. Saw a few more but they stayed off.

Met the legendary Mike Vietch and found him to be a good member of the dive world. ;) Hope we get to dive together when he shoots the video. He is enduring a bit of a cold and chest congestion, I think he said. Have to give him some chicken soup.

Off gasing now and enjoying the Manta Hotel. Really nice place and run very well. I recommend it, dive op too. Oh, I recommend Mike as well :eyebrow:

Sitting here with Barracud2 and enoying the Yap atmosphere. Here's a few words from Barracud2:
There should be a law as to how many great sights and experiences a man should have. I just spent a week aboard the Big Blue Explorer and hooked into Blue Corner 3 times. It was a real shark fest for almost an hour. I never thought I would see the day that I would start to get picky on what sharks to video tape, but I did. Did my first manta dive this a.m. but had no luck; we will try it again tomorrow and the next day. I just met personally pilot fish and we exchanged some great stories and shared experiences from Truk--I was there in '04. I hate to see this week come to an end, but it will and I will take home some great video---so far about 5 hrs. of raw footage--and great memories. Now back to pilot fish:

Barracuda pretty much covered it. See you landlubbers later

Oh,. just finished my longest dive to date on Nice & Easy dive site: 1 1/2 hours. Cool. I got luckier than Barracida2 in that I saw and shot some great manta the first few days here. He will get lucky tomorrow, I hope :)
