Hello all! I'm brand new to these forums, my husband has been reading them lately to educate himself and get some pointers from the experts.

To give you guys a little background on us, my husband whisked me away to the Bahamas for a 3 day vacation for our anniversary in July. He booked a SCUBA resort dive, something we've always wanted to do, and we were so totally blown away that we did 2 more dives that day. I think the deepest we went was 65 feet. Peanuts to most of you I'm sure but it was exhilarating for us. Needless to say, we got hooked and for my birthday last week he booked our certification course with Deep 6 Dive in Lakeland FL. I cannot wait until we get to go back out in the ocean.

We're working on getting our gear and hopefully a boat soon so we can do Bahamas trips regularly. Anyway, just wanted to say hi and don't be surprised if I have a billion questions for the pros :D

Hello! Welcome to the wonderful world of SCUBA! I'm no expert (just got certified about a month and a half ago), but I truly fell in love with it. I can't wait to get down to the Bahamas/Carribean to do some diving. Your fortunate that your husband dives with you. My wife is unable to participate in my underwater adventures. Makes it difficult for me to go diving. I am hoping that one day my kids will want to learn. Then I can give my wife the day off and take the kids diving. (They are still a little young, 5 & 8).

Good luck in your hunt for gear/boat. Happy diving!

Yeah we have a 2.5 year old little girl that we're hoping will eventually go diving with us but that's a loooong way off. My husband and I were talking about hooking up with other people and diving once we get certified. We don't want to test the waters on our own until we get some experience under our belts.

Thanks for the welcome, maybe we'll see you around. You're not too far from us = )

Scubanoobgirl, looks like you are in the middle of the state with tons of options for "local" diving on either FL coast. Lots of activities going on in the Florida Conchs forum and local sub-forums.

Do check out our Fall Megadive fest at Ginnie Springs http://www.scubaboard.com/forums/tr...orida/343453-oktoberfest-megadive-2010-a.html
Each summer there is usually a Venice Beach Bash & Megalodon/fossil hunt http://www.scubaboard.com/forums/tr.../333343-venice-beach-bash-2010-june-12-a.html

There is always something going on in SoFL too. Check out the Blue Heron Bridge. http://www.scubaboard.com/forums/fl...-sagas-blue-heron-bridge-228.html#post5418943

Welcome to the Scubaboard family and the FL Conchs.

Thanks all. I'll be sure to check out the Florida boards. I can't wait until we finish our certification, I'm really looking forward to the Key Largo dive at the end of our training. Hopefully we'll get back over to the Bahamas soon and do some more dives there. In the meantime maybe I'll help out with our lion fish issues here = )

Definately SCUBAnoobgirl. Just message me if you guys want to go diving with some others. Group dives are always more fun, and I can always find a dive buddy. I've been to a couple of the springs in Central Florida. Great for getting some experience. And not real expensive either. I try to get out at least once a month. Just let me know.

Have fun finishing your certification. It only gets more fun afterwards.

Boomer is a great guy. He is why we chose to get our certification there. We didn't want a quickie weekend cert and end up having some emergency that we didn't know how to handle that ended up getting one of us killed. They are teaching us well. We also knew they wouldn't try to sell us every gadget under the sun. They seem to be experienced and will tell us what we need and what we don't.

I'm quite happy that we live in the center of a ton of amazing dive sites. Best decision I ever made was moving to Florida! What more could someone want than year round summer and to live in a vacation paradise?
