hi I'm a new diver and mostly dive in tropical water.
After renting some equipment, I'm thinking about buying my own gear.
Women BC were not avalaible for rental in my country so it's difficult to try one.
I have read review about sherwood luna and thinking about it.
Have any of you had experience with it ?
Or can you suggest me another BC?
My budget is around the luna.

Thanks alot

I am going with a back plate and wing. It is like having a custom fit made rig. Also feels very free and uncumbered. They are on sale through today at Golem Gear. There are lots of other good bp/w combos out there. No matter you weight, shape, chest waist size etc you can custom fit it If you change shapes, you just adjust the harness and you again have a great fit.
Here is link to the specials that Jakub has going on this week at Golem

Tobin at Deep Sea Supply also has a nice set up.

Both guys post here on the board and I'm sure would more than happy to answer any questions that you have.

You might also consider trying a Zeagle Zena. It's a modular BC that you can mix and match the different pieces to achieve a custom fit. It's a very minimalist BC and back inflate, so if you're interested in a jacket style, you might try the SeaQuest Diva. Not only does the Diva have big pockets, but it also has a semi-back inflation system that puts most of the air in the back of the BC and doesn't squeeze you on the sides. It's a very popular BC with a lot of women.

Your best bet is to try on as many different BCs as you can, including men's styles. You might be surprised that a men's BC is comfortable and fits you well. Good luck, this can be a fun but challenging journey.

It is difficult for you as you cannot try them on... So what I would do is look at the features of the BCD's that are in your price range with an eye towards what is important to you.
Think of your body type as you look at the construction and picture how this would work in terms of personal comfort. Check out the sizing and see if some are a better fit than another.
If you are a warm water diver, the task is simplified. Consider whether you will dive with a knive, flashlight, reel, camera, etc and where these could be clipped on. Some BC are a bit short on d-rings (esp womens).
Also, do you want a sterum strap for added stability ? In your country do you dive with steel tanks or aluminum ? If you are carring a heavy load, this will give you greater stability.
How much weight do you need and how much weight do these systems for each BC provide ? Weight intergrated BCs are now widely accepted as a good thing.
Most people only are familiar with the BC that they use, so you wil get a lot of bias with an inquiry. If someone loves theirs, ask why ? Maybe that feature is very important to you, or maybe it is irrelevant.
Let us know what you decide and WHY. That is the most interesting part- the thought process that goes into the choice.

A plastic or aluminum backplate with a small, single-layer donut wing like the Oxycheq Razor 18# would be my choice for a tropical travel rig. That's what my girlfriend uses too. They generally fit everyone very well because it's just a plate strapped to your back and you can adjust the straps to be perfect length for you. Anyway, they are not for everyone but I'd recommend you look into it.

The Luna is a great BC.....It has been a very popular seller for us. Its also extremely comfortable, from what Im told ;)

As for tropical, are you going to be traveling alot? Oceanic makes a tropical BC that weighs in at only 6lbs.....great for traveling and awesome for women! Either on you will fall in love with! Here are some links to these on my site:

Zeagle has the Zena and Lazer BCs which come standard with a 35# lift wings, but for tropical diving they can be ordered with 24# lift wings.
