For Sizing, I'm 5ft 10" about 160lbs.

What size should I get.

also
To buy the orion do I buy two seperate parts?

The Bladder and the Harness right?

Single for one tank? I'm not using two
on the single why does it have two BCD controls?? is this correct? I've never used a BCD with two of them?

Thanks for the help, I'm sure this thread will help others aswell.

Get the large, since the large has two non-droppable trim pockets and the medium does not.

I'm 5'10" 150lbs, and I have both a medium and large harness, and I'd suggest the large.

You have to buy the harness and the bladder. There are two bladder types. Single bladder and double bladder.

The picture for the single bladder is actually the picture for the double bladder. There is only one inflactor control for the single bladder.

The single would definatly be my choice right?

Hi all,

I'm also looking for getting an Orion. My question is: what are the "extra" weight pockets for?

Do you get two dropable pockets included with the Orion and you can add extra ones (that you purchase separately)?

Or are the extra pockets the only dropable ones. I want to have dropable weights integrated with the BC.

Maybe the answer to this is obvious, but since I'm a newbie to diving - 10 dives up to now (and 12 by the end of this week ;) ) - don't expect me to know this.

The extra pockets on the large are not droppable. They are "trim" pockets, to help trim you out in the water. The two primary pockets (on all Orion BCs) are indeed dropable. I am 5'8" and 175 and I wear the Medium. It's a tad tight, but I'm losing weight. :)

I bought a two extra sets of pockets. Why? Because they were cheap. I think $5 or so. What I do is take two sets already made up for diving steel and aluminum tanks. When doing three or more dives I have to rent a tank, and it is usually aluminum. So I dive with my steel tanks (with appropriate weighting) and then switch my pockets to adjust for the aluminum tanks. $5 seemed cheap so I save 2 minutes everytime I do this.

I am also curious about the double bladder. It has two independant sets of controls? So you have to adjust both to get trimmed properly? Or is it for diving doubles?

Is one bladder on the right and one on the left?

Sorry for the newb questions, but if someone could clarify the difference between the single and double bladders, that would be cool.

The bladders are stacked on top of one another. Always use your left inflator hose first, then if you need extra lift, use the right one. I had an OMS Dual bladder and I believe all are the exact same in the fact they are stacked one on top of the other. Otherwise, you would be taking an underwater class on avaiation trying to get trim and yaw and all that other crap to come together:(

Also, make sure you get the crotchstrap. It helps alot and it's only $3.25.
On a side note, have anyone noticed that the price on the Orion has been increased quite a bit lately?
Bought mine Sep for $50 for the hardness, $96 single blader, total $146
Now hardness is $62, single blader is $121, total $182. $36 diff... 25% diff compare to old price!!! Still good deal but man, quite a jump.
