Just returned from four days diving in Cozumel (with Scuba Mau, see separate report) and one day Cenote diving in Riviera Maya in late May. Craig66 and I had an amazing day with Nico Casellas owner of Cenotexperience.com. He met us early Friday morning after we caught the 7 AM ferry from Cozumel to Playa del Carmen. We drove about an hour to Tulum and our first Cenote of the day - Angelita. Nico was warm and friendly and gave a detailed safety dive briefing. We were not prepared for the amazing experience of rising through the halocline at ~100 ft into an ethereal, ghostlike seen, truly indescribable. Do a google search to see pics and write ups. We then drove to Dos Ojos where we did both cenotes - the Bat Cave and Barbie in two seaprate dives, both relatively shallow, less than 25ft. The water is gin-clear and the sensation of diving through the caverns in between massive stalactites, stalagmites and columns was fantastic. After a sandwich lunch provided by Nico we packed up and headed back to Playa del Carmen. Another bonus was rinsing off the four days of salt water from my gear in the beautiful clear fresh waters of the Cenote before heading back to Boston. I can highly recommend Nico of Cenotexperience.com, he is a safe cautious and patient dive-master and is a certified instructor in Cavern and Cave Intro. I will be back and look forward to diving with Nico again soon. :cool2:
