I'm a Fish!

The trip got off to a fun, humorous start, as our group from Germany kept us all laughing, even with the slightly rougher crossing than usual. We had a heavy rain when we arrived to the island, which stayed with us the first three days due to a passing Pacific Ocean storm. The rest of the trip alternated between sunny with cloudy days. After a relaxed check dive to Chatham Bay we dove Manuelita, where several divers sighted the elusive tiger shark!

The second day we went to Punta Maria and Dirty Rock. Both sites were full of life! We saw plenty of Galapagos sharks and few black tip sharks at the cleaning station, and lots of hammerheads at Dirty Rock. The third day was time for the legendary Alcyone, and once again this site livid up to its reputation. In crystal clear blue water, schools of hammerheads crossed right in front of heads.

A passing storm prevented us from diving the south side of the island (Dos Amigos/Shark Fin), but the diving conditions were so good and the marine life so abundant in Alcyone, Dirty Rock and Punta Maria that we focused our attention primarily in those sites. Good guarantee of once in a lifetime diving experiences. As we predicted, we encountered huge schools of hammerheads, Galapagos sharks, blacktip sharks, the rare silvertip, and whitetip sharks all over the place as usual :)

After the first few days the rain ceased and we even put our feet on the island and visited the ranger station, the surrounding camp, the historic engraved rocks, and many other interesting features of the island.

We took one night off from our night dive to enjoy a little happy hour on the sundeck, where divers gathered to enjoy a cold adult beverage in very lively atmosphere, definitely the good mood and the happiness of this group from Germany has been one of the keys for such a successful trip!!!

The way back to Puntarenas the group spent most of the time reading, chilling out or exchanging incredible photos and videos about the trip, and of course soaking up the suns rays.
