First time to Coz....certainly not the last.
Stayed at Cozumel Palace and dove with Aqua Safari (on-site operator).
Palace was awesome and right on the water with great snorkeling right in front. Hotel is unbelievable and totally new after the hurricane. Great staff, including Aqua Safari folks. Only complaint was the lockers weren't finished yet for gear, but they were close when we left.
Only did 7 dives as we were with others who don't dive. Correction...7 awesome dives!
Columbia Deep was our favorite followed by Palancar Bricks, Gardens, and then either Chankanaab or Tormentos.
Water was rough a couple of days (4-5 feet), but as always...it was fine at 80'!
A lot of sand on shallower reefs, but sea life was pretty good. Saw turtles on every dive and Spotted Eagle Rays on most. Never disappointed. No sharks though :disappoin
With no previous visit to compare to, it was spectacular diving. Viz was great at all times and coldest temp was 81. My kind of diving!
DM's were great. Saw one get all over a veteran diver who grabbed a turtle as it went to swim off. Unbelievable that people do that. DM's were very interested in making sure everyone enjoyed themselves and monitored safety very closely. Disturbing that DM's reacted to two situations while dive buddies did nothing.? I would always hope my DM would be the second responder.
Would go back tomorrow if I could. Unfortunately, my employer doesn't see the same urgency that I do...
