Hey guys we are looking to do a late summer dive trip. We have never been to either of these locations and were hoping that some of you guys may be able to offer some advice.

The cost of both trips is similar when looking at 2 weeks. I am sure there are differences in the diving as well as the environment.

Our first option is a trip that a Dive Trip planner is putting on out of California
Fiji / Tonga Trip<- Link
There is a lot more travel with this trip but the area looks beautiful.

The second option is Cozumel and stay at a dive resort for 2 weeks offered by Divetrip.com Cozumel Dive Trip

Any suggestions or input would be appreciated

We are going to Wananavu in August. $1795 pp, air, AI diving, transfers etc (Caradonna travels). We have extended our stay due to the distance. The downside to Fiji is the 10 1/2 hour flight and the 2 hour drive to the resort. We have never been there, but the deal was too good. We have stayed at Garden Island on Taveuni years ago

We have been staying at Fiesta Americana at least twice a year for 8 years. We love it. I would book the AI non diver package ($600 pp) and then book your own diving. We use BlueXTSea and Living Underwater, 6 pack boats, valet service diving. They are a little more than Dive House, but keep your gear and are full service.

Feel free to pm me if you have Cozumel questions. The Cozumel forum is a good place for answers

Never been to Fiji but if I could go for the same price as Coz I'd be there in the wink of an eye. We all love Coz but I may only get to Fiji once in my life - and it hasn't happened yet. Take Fiji - Coz can wait.

I wasn't able to open the link to the Fiji/Tonga trip so I'm a little reluctant to give advice. Which island in Fiji does your package include? I have been to both areas and if the price is similar, then Fiji would be my first choice. More dive variety, more fish diversity, the coral reefs are stunningly beautiful and the Fijians are very friendly. Two weeks in Fiji would barely suffice scratch the surface.

I am sorry here is the link Paradise Adventures presents its FIJI / TONGA trip - Scuba Dive Forums

Thank you guys for all of the advice!

Have been to Fiji and Coz. Very different diving and peoples. Stayed at Pacific Harbour w/ Beqa Divers, very good crew, boats and resort. Shark diving w/ Bulls was way cool. We stay in Coz at Scuba Club Cozumel (5 times) always a great time. The air to Fiji is long but the payoff is well worth it. My wife and I are also thinking about taking advantage of the great deals in Fiji this year.

$2999 for a twelve day vacation to Fiji (including air and diving) is a very good price. I'd take go without giving it a second thought.
