Hi there,

I'm a SCUBA diver and Freediver from just outside the Lake District. One of my hobbies is snorkelling in the various 'lakes' for treasure, old artifacts and lost items. A lot of people who visit the lakes contact me or my dive buddies when they have dropped a sentimental or expensive item whilst on the lake on paddleboards or swimming etc. Last year I was on the dive team for the BBC Series Lost and Found in the Lakes where we filmed 15 episodes diving for long lost artifacts and treasures. We are currently in the process of filming a second series but as I said I also do it for a hobby.

I would love to know if anyone has heard of any local legends or stories which they think might make interesting diving. Examples of this might be tales of old military bases, victorian bottle dumps, sunken vehicles or wrecks etc. Perhaps you've seen something on a dive but it was just a glimpse?

I am usually diving in Coniston or Windermere most weekends and we have found everything from expensive jewellery and modern gadgets to drugs, discarded weapons and wartime ordinance.

Another thing I enjoy while I do this is photographing the freshwater fish while i'm diving. I have seen a couple of large pike but didn't have my camera at the time. I'm interested to know if you have seen one and if so where at?

Thanks :)
