Have you been there as well? Do you know where it is and under whose jurisdiction? Look it up boy/girl.

You were mentioning "exchanged idea" in SB but it is educational for you! Just like back in primary school.
 
You can do the Golden Circle in one day easily. As for the northern lights they really don't start to appear consistently until the end of September. I was there the last week of September a few years ago and only saw them once. September can be a weird month as far as there climate up there. The winter winds start blowing in and you can have cloudy nights which can also mess up the northern lights.
 
Iceland is green

But think more marine
I hear Silfra is nice.
 
As far as what to see, there is a travel photographer by the name of Brendon van Son who did a workshop in Iceland a couple years ago. Go to Youtube & do a search for him and then for his Iceland trip and there will be a wealth of info on what to see.

As for current admission requirements, your best bet for current and accurate info would be on the website of the Iceland government.
