I apologize, instead of saying "the weight system blows", I should have explained. I don't like the weight system because it is difficult to load the weight bag into the BC when you have the BC on. With cold water weights, you either have to have your buddy help or you put the BC on with the weights in place, neither is ideal. Furthermore, if you had to load the weights underwater (low but significant possibility) it would be difficult. The placement of the weights is awkward (difficult to see or reach) and your hips intrude into the pockets barring the weights from entering. Also it is difficult to rearm the ditching system. This is only my personal experience but I have tried the Knighthawk BC and it is far and away easier than the Ranger.

As for tank wobble, I didn't really notice the shift much until I tried a BP and in the BP you realize how tight your rig can feel. I could feel the tank shift in the Ranger but not in a BP rig.

As for getting the air out, if it takes experience to do so properly, the system sucks. It should expel the air without thought or contortion. There are many other systems that do this.

My BC is a medium, and I have someone willing to buy it for $300 but it would be nice to have a backup buyer in case the deal falls through. I rinse with fresh water inside and out after every dive so the thing is like new. Message me here.

Diver Anderson, I appreciate the details - thanks!

I haven't experienced the problems you mention. In fact I swam a Knighthawk and found the Ranger actually easier to manage. The big decision-maker for me was the fit of the Ranger.

I agree with you that restringing the weight drop ripcord is a minor challenge. I tested it in the pool to insure I was familiar with the procedure and able to re-arm the system.

I've been able to minimize any trapped air with the retainer bungees and could see where it could be a problem.

My Ranger is an XL/L, so perhaps there's some size sensitivity to the problems you described. Interesting.

Again, thanks for the info.
