We took a tour of the USS New Jersey the other day. I was like a kid in a candy store (Gedunk). I had only been on a destroyer before. I had the chance to sit in the same chair as Bull Halsey and could not stop laughing when my fiancée found out why they called them knee knockers.
Going back later this year when they open up Broadway and the engine rooms. She is being readied a little at a time for more and more areas to be opened up to the public.

If you are ever in the Philly/ Camden area it is a must see.

Thanks for the post. Do you know when they will have the restoration complete.

I would like to go; however, its a fairly long drive. I'd like to see as much as possible.

The speed of the restorations depends on the cash flow. The areas I mentioned were slated for April and moved to mid summer. The entire ship will still be a couple of years.
They are also using the stage method to get you to make several return trips to keep the revenue flowing.
As it stands now... the tour is close to two hours. They also will accommodate over night stays for groups. We were told that you can rent all or part of the ship but you must supply your own caters.
