Hi all. I have to admit I am a bit frustrated with the diving here in the core of the city. Unless I am mistaken it seems that hart house is the only place in the core to dive and you need to be a member in order to use it. I do much of my stuff with Aquarius and they are great but the dive locations are killer if you don't want to have to drive to Etobicoke or Mississauga or Guelph for open water training. I am looking for ways to change this situation and have a few ideas about how that might happen. Is anyone else interested in getting involved in creating some better diving options for Toronto. I'd love to here from you.

Who wants to dive in a pool...there are dozens of us at Humber Bay every weekend. Everyone from open-water newbies to rebreather divers. If that doesn't appeal to you, drive an hour north to Simcoe and tool around on the Morrison.

You can dive almost in any park along the shore.
Of cause there will be boat traffic in many places and you need to buy a permit to dive in the bay of humber

I have a funny feeling the OP was talking about confined water training because there is zero OW diving in all three locations he listed OR he is talking about "fun pool dives" (??) which would lead to Bob's answer. As for OW diving, I agree with Bob. There are sites here....they may not be much to look at but they are open water.

You don't need a permit to dive in Humber Bay. It is not considered part of Toronto Harbour.

Seems to me he just wanted to vent something. This Parks, Forestry & Recreation : Indoor Pools shows 70 indoor pools in Toronto. The Etobicoke Olympium has been used by Aquarius Scuba for years, so the city doesn't seem to have rules banning rental for scuba. His profile says he's a PADI instructor. Sounds to me as though he wants someone else to make a downtown pool available to him. Wonder if he's even called Parks & Rec to inquire.
