Dear all,

I'm not sure i should post here or not, but i think Tonga is close to Fiji, so i may be right.

anyway, I'm planning to go Tonga for humpback whale watching this sep or next sep.
firstly, is it very easy to encounter humpback whale? according to information, there are so many come to Tonga between july to late Oct.

secondly, i just found a company/web site whaleswim.com who can arrange the whole trip for customers. does any one know any other? because min is 5 days, it is not flexible for us to do something else. like scuba diving and island visit.

finally, there are 2 main island in Tonga when i read the map. is it possible to reach the whale location no matter i stay in which island. if possible i prefer to stay in the island of International airport, it is better for us to access different location and do something else.

there is no so much information in my country. that's why i'm asking for help here.

thank you very much and looking forward to any suggestion.

Hi, as far as I know most whaleswims are in Ha'apai and Vava'u island groups. Both would require an internal flight (or ferry) from the main island Tongatapu (with the capital Nuku'alofa and the international airport).

Recommended operators would be Matafonua Lodge in Ha'apai, or Beluga Diving in Vava'u.
September should still be ok for sightings.
