Hi: Yes, The diving in the Northern part of Tonga out of Vavau is really, really great! High vis, untouched coral, forests of hard corals, lots of fish and good wall diving on the walls of the Tongan Trench. Also, this is the only place in the world the you can legally swim, (snorkel), with Humpback Whales during whale season. Tonga might be much easier to get to soon because there are rumors that Air Fiji is trying to start service from Nadi.

Thanks,
Mary Jane

what dolphin adventures wrotes is not 100% true, whalewatching is much better, as more remote, around Eua island. Eua island is called the Underwater wonderland and miles better than Vavau and Haapai. best diving I ever had, and Im from New Zealand. have a look at www.tonga-watersports.co.nz they operate also a Liveaboard
hope this wiill help.
cheers

I can only talk about the diving in Ha'apai, but that is awesome. Very pristine coral (mostly hard), some spectacular cave dives with a tunnel and cave system underneath an island, occasional pelagics including sharks, tuna etc. and lots of critters: nudies, shrimps and camouflaged stuff. I loved it!
