What are the main differences between these two octos? It looks like the ABS is not adjustable, whereas the Titan octo is. Should this be a concern for me? Which would YOU go for?

Also, any recommendations between the Titan and Titan LX? Thanks!

(new to diving)

I own an ABS. It is not adjustable. It has the advantage of being compact and useable in any orientation. Breaths OK at depth. I have had freeflow problems off and on. I would prefer a Titan over ABS for an Octo. I would personally want to go with a Legend octo upgrade to match my 2nd stage next time around.

As for the difference between the Titan and the Titan LX, I don't know anymore about them then the literature published by Aqualung, which indicates very little difference.

Regarding the Titan and the Titan LX, the "regular" Titan is not a balanced second, while the Titan LX is a balanced one. Actually the Titan LX second stage is the same as the Legend second stage, but not the Legend LX.

Regarding the octo, I'd go for the Titan, not the ABS.

I have a Legend as well. If you use the ABS with a Legend first you will have freeflow problems at depth because of the non-constant IP of the Legend first stage. Aqualung tells dealers not to sell that octo with the Legend but some dealers do anyway to hold down cost. I know someone who had this same problem with the ABS and the Legend first. LP has the Octo LX (the same as the Legend Octo) on clearance for around $75 since it was discontinued, if you can live without a warranty.

I am thinking of getting my daughter a Titan. It is a great value with the free octo. I would go with the full sized octo to keep the second and octo the same. If you can spring for a Legend you get the Legend octo for free. This is a GREAT bargain.

Thanks for the heads up. I'll look further into the octo. Maybe upgrading sooner than I thought.

Yes, the warranty is important to me. Aqualung parts have a lifetime guarantee. Makes service a heck of a lot cheaper. I wonder if the price difference between the lower cost LP purchase and one made from an AL dealer would break even after a couple seasons on service?

I have had less than a stellar consumer experience with LP on cheap accessories. Life support purchases is one business they won't be getting from me.

Too late for me, I have a fairly new Legend and an Apeks ATX 50 already. I did get a rebate on the Legend they had going then.

I considered the Titan for my son as well. Then I got a great deal on the Apeks ATX 50.

Good luck with your daughter's purchase and thanks.

I have the titan lx supreme and the ABS octo. I really don't like the octo at all and i'm in the market to change it. i would strongly suggest going with the titan octo

i found last years Legend + free octo for $350 on closeout. i called about 20 dive shops to find the last ones in socal. maybe you could find the same deal? i would recomend the full size matching octo with whatever you end up getting.
