A lot of people will tell you read this are that. I say just take the class your Instructor will cover everything he wants you to learn. People are very helpful and will try to help and will advise you, not so much wrong but to much info you do not need to fill your head with.

When you get your cert think of it as your ticket to learn how to become a great diver. Then after you have the basics covered by your instructor and have your cert, ask as much questions as you'd like to. Your instructor knows how to train you, people on the other hand want to be helpful, but their help may not be inline with the building blocks your instructor wants you to learn. He's the one that your paying. The one who has the experience in training. The one who has been trained in a method that's trained 1000's. Go with him!

Check info on an advanced class after your open water. You'll get to see and experience a lot more about different aspects of diving.
