Tipping OW instructor for checkout dives in Caribbean

I did my AOW on GC a couple of years ago and tipped like I would on a regular dive as I had 5 dives and was the only diver. When my daughter got OW certified a few months ago I dove along with them and bought the instructor lunch each day and a couple of beers after- which on GC is way more than a normal tip. In both cases it was much appreciated.

I gave my ow instructor a 20 and said buy the DMs a half rack for their help. I assume the help is not paid like the instructor is. I may be wrong but my class was awesome.

the DMs/Instructors here make the same amount. Boat captains get a dollar more an hour give or take. The tips are very very much appreciated whether it is food, beer or cash!!!
