Can anybody tell me how is the diving over there, is it worth it ? If yes, where to go and is march / april a good time to go ? Want to avoid the rain.
Thanks for the help !

Hi funscuba. I was at Timor Leste last year, late April early May. From what I was told the great visibility would start later on the month (maybe some of the Timor experts can chip in on the conditions in March), but still it was quite good.

You might find my review on Diving East Timor helpful (or so I hope ;) ): http://www.lifesauntering.com/2013/05/diving-east-timor.html ; and refer to a previous thread on the topic: http://www.scubaboard.com/forums/general-asia/457642-diving-east-timor.html

Cheers

Joao

Hey Funscuba...I've been to ET three times and would say it's worth it. Believe March/April to be considered the end of the rainy season there. PM me if you'd like some specific details on the diving.

Thanks guys, will c the situation !

It's certainly not the best diving in the world but it's fantastic for good diving without another person around, except a guide/buddy. I've been there twice and would go again when time permits. On one dive there I saw a paddleflap scorpion fish, weedy scorpion fish, frog fish, ornate ghost pipe fish, hale a ghost pipe fish, Napoleon snake eel and a dugong. Not too shabby for a beach dive. Further down the same beach we later found a blue ring octopus. Combine the diving with a trip to the interior for hiking or just touring. It's magical there too.

So where would u recommend me to dive exactly timor and timor leste ?

I think there is only one dive operation.

There were two shops in Dili when I was there, both of which are good IMHO. Dive Timor Lorosae and FreeFlow Divers. I've heard that there may also be a new resort on Atauro island now too.
