well i have started my course now and i'm happy to say I WAS WRONG
about the shop in general. i still have my reservations about the instructor who sold me the gear, but in the shops defense i must state that. i have met most of the staff and the owner, who can i say is the most enthusiastic person i have met. i have talked with him and he has been diving for 22 yrs and gets so excited telling me all the great things i can look forward to in the future. he leaves his bp/wing on show in the shop and quite openly tells the students that he prefers this setup and why, but also explains that for what he does its best, but not necessarily for everyone. And that for the classes we would be using a jacket style and why! i feel totally happy with the way i have been accepted into my new club and felt the least i could do was admit that i may have got the first impression wrong. this could have been enough to make me or others go elsewhere, but i am glad i did not. maybe the instructor in question should stick to instructing on not sales? i must add that i do not like admitting when i'm wrong as i think is the same with most people, but if i have to as in this case i'm glad to admit it.
i would also like to thank every1 on this board for all the valuable contributions to this board as a whole, i have not made many posts but have been reading and soaking up the information within these forums. over the last few weeks i have learned so much, and i know it will help in making me a better diver in the future. i'm sure i will have questions in the future but i find allot of the questions i have now have already been addressed somewhere in the board. hopefully one day i will be able to give something back but until then i am enjoying the learning curve.....
regards jason
