Three Pictures on the main page???

Just out of curiosity question.

When you get to the main (Home) page of SB, there are three pictures shown in Underwater Gallery box. The pictures are changed every time you go to the main page.
Are these pictures just random order or based on any background sequence, such as the latest pictures checked or viewed?
