threading a reel

Hi all. I have a reel that I just started using two weeks ago. It is one with the steel U shaped bars that you thread the line through. Is there any special way to thread this line through the 2 bars?

Part of me says: who cares? just put it thorugh there.

Another part says: Go ahead and ask. Your way might be prone to tangles.

Kind of hard to describe so a picture would be greatly appreciated.
