I used to own and dive an OMS 100# single bladder bungee wing.

A thought occurred to me that, of course, the bungee ws claimed to assist in venting air OUT of the BC. OK, fine - sounds good.

Then another thought came to mind...and tell me if this is correct or not:

When diving - for every 33 ft we descend we increase ATM's by 1 atm, or 14.7 psi. Isn't even 1, 2, etc. atm's enough of external pressure enought to assist air inside a bladder to be forced OUT of the wing?

???

Is this a troll? This sounds like a troll.

Do you have any pictures of a tall blond wearing that thing in zebra thong?

Nope, its not a Troll...its serious.

Not even remotely a DIR question and moved to the correct forum.

Actually,
Though I have steered clear of discussions of this topic, from a physics point of view, I always thought that idea was strange. I don't know what the compression strength of bungee is, but I always thought that the compressive power of water at depth while descending would pretty quickly render the bungee's effect negligable. I can only envision the bungee having a significant effect on deflation at or very near the surface.

Ohmygawd, another poster child thread for how bad OW training has gotten. :(

Did you folks sleep through the physics part of your training?

Hi Roakey
I'M not sure if you are referring to my post, but if so, please enlighten me to what portion of my post seems contrary to the basics of gas law chemistry and physics that is taught in OW...

Honestly, I am all ears...

Roakey's just trolling probably...

Exactly just what part of BOW physics are you referring to, Roakey?

Because it's so easy when talking about OMS or Halcyon. Just think about the response if someone started trolling the big H.

Stop the madness! :)
