Hi, this is Bruce Justinen, President of SEASOFT SCUBA. We have just recently joined the manufacturers using SCUBABOARD. This is an incredible site offering so much information not only to divers but to all of us in the dive industry. Thank you SCUBABOARD!

So here is a little information about SEASOFT SCUBA.

SEASOFT SCUBA was formed in 1984 to develop a soft, stretchable weight belt for scuba diving. Its first product was distributed in the United States by DACOR from 1987 to 1989 when it took over distribution and development of its own products.

Here is a list of first and approximate year of development.

First soft, stretchable, depth-compensating weight belt. (patented) 1987

First stretchable and adjustable ankle weights. 1991

First heavy-duty weight belt buckle, weighing almost a half pound. 1995

First stretchable pocket weight belt (SEAFLEX). (patented) 1997

First gloves (Ti & Ti PRO) without seams across the palms, now copied by many others. 1998

First dive booties (STEALTH & SUNRAYS) with an elevated heel and a full arch support located under the insole. 1999

First dive gloves (Ti PRO) to put KEVLAR on the entire front, sides and finger tips of the glove. 1999

First wetsuit and drysuit hoods (Ti PRO) developed with compressed neoprene for the back panels to maintain warmth at depth. 1999

First dive gloves (SEASOFT EDGE) to put thinner fingers on the index finger and thumbs than the rest of the glove. 5 MM glove with 3 MM index finger and thumb OR 3 MM glove with 1.5 MM index finger and thumb. (patent pending) 2000

First free diving vest (FREE) to integrate the weight pockets into a back pack and make weights ditchable using a ripcord. 2000

First Drysuits (3000 Ti, 5000 Ti, and now all other SEASOFT Drysuits) to use a raglan sleeve, full tennis shoe booties, valve on the forearm where it should be etc. A breakthrough in drysuits. 2000

First semi-dry wetsuits (X-SERIES) with a totally unique pattern to use the Ti-Zip from Germany, a breakthrough in zipper technology. Expensive but wow! 2002

First diving vest (QUIKPAK) to integrate weights, pony pocket and one size fit for rescue, commercial and recreation applications. 2003

SEASOFT PRO BCs in only 3 sizes with an integrated flashlight. SMALL fits - 45 to 185 lbs.; REGULAR fits - 120 to 240 lbs.; BIG fits 220 - 475 lbs.; (patent pending) 2004

First drybag duffle bag to have an attached, roll out change mat. 2005

First weight pockets (QUIK DITCH POCKETS) to ditch with a mechanized pull down motion requiring no lifting of pulling of weights. The safest, easiest weight ditching method in the world. 2005

First weight harness (SEAWOLF) to make everything adjustable, even the position of the weight pockets. 2006

First flashlight pocket to have a built in retractor, it fits almost anywhere. (patent pending) 2006

First affordable BC (SEALION) to be available in ONLY 3 sizes. See PRO BC above. (patent pending) 2006
