This is actually a pretty simple one.....any time you do that particular math equation, the digits in your answer will add up to 9.... i.e. 27, 2+7=9.... or 36, 3+6=9, and so on. If you look at the answers to the side, every number that matches this description has the same symbol, 9,18,27,36,45,54,63,72,81. That's as far as it goes using their equation. Everytime you reset it to work another problem, they shuffle the symbols, but the guilty numbers still share the same symbol.

LOL...it doesn't matter....take any two digit number as it says, add the two digits together, then subtract that from the original, and your answer will ALWAYS be either 9,18,27,36,45,54,63,72,or 81. ALWAYS. Those numbers have the same symbol on the chart.
