Those of us who dive recreationally with a long hose setup know the main reasons to do so - ease in air sharing or inflating a bag.

The other night though I watched a friend use his long hose in a rather unique way.
We were in 30' and found and old tire on the bottom. I watched as my buddy clipped off his light and then cleaned out the inside of the tire of mud. He then deployed the long hose and started inflating the tire. Up it went about 6' before falling over and landing on the bottom. A second try brought about much funnier results. This time the tire took off to the surface going up about 15' and directly above my buddy. Air started spilling from the tire and yup - you guessed it, down it came. Unfortunately for my buddy the tire was slightly behind him and landed on top of his tanks. The extra weight forced my buddy belly first into the bottom. Laughing underwater only floods a diver's mask and this time was no exception. Both of us had to clear our masks twice from the good laugh we got.

Upon reaching the surface, my buddy told me that it really works well if you do this from 100' down.

Come on boys let's keep it out of the junior high locker room...

Yes sir *snicker* :D

I have actually considerd getting a longer hose for my rec setup, but I dont think I would like the whole 7ft length thing, what do you do with all the extra hose? coil it? how do you stay streamlined?
