The Curacao Sea Aquarium & Dolphin Academy
Home - Curacao Sea Aquarium
The Curacao Sea Aquarium is possibly Curacao's most popular tourist attraction. It is one of those places where you can immerse yourself, even literally, in the vast underwater world for the better part of a day. Located on the south coast just east of Willemstad, the Aquarium area comprises a marina, a large beach, a hotel, and the aquarium complex. It is located next to the Curacao Underwater Park, a protected marine area set aside for divers and for exploration by marine biologists and other scientists, in an area called 'Bapor Kibra', or 'Broken Boat', after the steamer Oranje Nassau, which went down off the shore in 1906. Opened every day from 8.30am till 5.30pm

Downtown Wilemstad Punda & Otrabanda
http://www.downtownwillemstad.com/list-of-attractions.php
The oldest part of Willemstad is Punda, situated in the east of the St. Anna Bay. Punda, a derivation of the Dutch word “punt” that means “point”, was established in 1634 when the founding merchants built offices, warehouses, stores and living quarters on the eastern side of the bay. Punda is the historical part of Willemstad, together with Otrabanda, which is situated on the west side of the St. Anna Bay, they form the historical city centre of Willemstad.

Queen Emma Bridge
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Queen_Emma_Bridge
Queen Emma Bridge, also known as “The Swinging Old Lady” in Willemstad, is a floating pontoon bridge that links the “Punda” (Point Side) and the “Otrobanda” (Other Side) of the Willemstad across the Sint Annabaai Channel. You get to see the bridge open and close to away marine traffic into St. Anna Bay. In the event the bridge is open for a prolonged time, there is a ferry service across the channel as well.

Floating market
The floating market offers a unique experience. Salesmen sell their goods directly from their boat. They sell fresh fruit, vegetables and fish that come from Venezuela. The market can be visited everyday.

Fort Amsterdam
::: Fortchurch Curacao :::
The city of Willemstad dates from the Dutch capture of Curaçao by victory over the Spanish in 1634. While the Spaniards had been content to erect simple stone dwellings, the Dutch began to fortify the island. Willemstad is divided in two by Santa Anna Bay. The oldest part, Punda ("The Point") is east of the harbor mouth. One of the first permanent constructions was Fort Amsterdam which guards the entrance to St. Anna Bay, and became the focal point for the development of the city. Today, the Fort serves as the seat of the Government of the Netherlands Antilles.

Fort Beekenburg
Curacao - Fort Beekenburg
Fort Beekenburg was build in 1703 to defend Spanish Water. At the time it was one of the few places where you could get onto land from sea. This fort has earned his stripes. Multiple times it had fended off the English or pirates. The fort was build with stones factured in the Waalgebied (Dutch area). These stones came from ships where they were used as ballast.

Hato Caves
http://www.hatocaves.com/
Centre of it all is the bustling city of Willemstad. When you want to get away to find some quiet, you will find it easy to find the sights of Curacao. There is plenty to see and do in the cunucu (countryside). Just north of town, near Hato International Airport, are the Hato Caves. The caves, gouged out of limestone cliffs ages ago as the island emerged from the sea, are still forming, albeit by one drop at a time. You will see water dripping from the walls and massive stalactites that hang from the ceiling.

Christoffelpark
http://www.christoffelpark.org/
At the west end of the island is the impressive Christoffel Park, part of the island's national park system since 1978. The park, about a 40-minute drive from Willemstad, is the home of the 1,239-foot (377-meter) Mt. Christoffel, the island's highest point, as well as dozens of species of trees and plants, including an orchid forest, birds, lizards, and sea life, including nesting sea turtles.

Shete Boka Park

One of Curacaos' national parks is Shete Boka Park (seven bays or coves). It covers approximately 6 miles on the rough coast with multiple coves where various turtles lay their eggs. Better known spots in the park are among others: Boka Table and the natural bridge of Curacao.

Substation Curacao
http://www.substation-curacao.com/
On the Caribbean island of Curaçao anyone can now discover the sea at a depth of 1.000 feet (320meters). Substation Curaçao launches Curasub, the world's most spectacular certified mini-submarine for tourists. The Curasub descends four times a day from Bapor Kibra to unreachable depths for divers. Onboard, submarine passengers make a memorable journey to places where very few people have ever been.

Sunscape runs a shuttle between the hotel and downtown 3 times a day – around 9:30am, 1:30pm and 4:30pm. If people want to take the last shuttle and stay downtown later, they can just take a taxi back to the hotel (about $25).

There’s also car rental on site.

I added 3 more to the list.

I think it's also worth pointing out that all the cruise ships dock either downtown or at the MegaPier on the Otrabunda side of downtown so the area around the famous shops, floating market etc. can be very congested at times.

And if a cruise ship is moored at the pier, the Superior Producer is off limits to divers. Several shops dive it at night for that reason. It is the signature wreck dive on Curacao so worth the effort. The dive school closed recently at the Tugboat dive site also so anyone planning that from shore needs to bring tanks.

Also if anyone plans to shore dive in the afternoon but doesn't have a rental vehicle, the Dive Bus is literally across the street from Sunscape. Probably even pick you up on request. All they do is guided shore dives at some of the better dive sites leaving at 1:30PM. Welcome to the Dive Bus They also offer group trips for 8 minimum or more. I realize your pkg. includes unlimited shore dives but you can only dive Pierbaai Beach so many times...lol.

Most people will be under-impressed by Fort Beekenburg also.

Any golfers on the Crew? Santa Barbara Resort is a Pete Dye course. Curacao Golf| Santa Barbara Beach & Golf Resort Blue Bay to the west of town is the other one.

Here's a video of the people, history and architecture of the Curacao that I found interesting.
There's actually 8 parts, about an hour or so all together.
Watch at your leisure.

Or how about a visit to one of their the museums.

Here's a wonderful resource.
