Rustys is free and runs Friday - Sunday Inclusive and is a fruit and veg market. Can get samples of some of the exotic fruits whislt wandering around, but you would have seen that on the show!
Good idea. Gilligans Backpackers is a mega hostel right over the top of it and central in town, so if you are looking for that sort of accomodation that may be a good place to start.
