I've lived in Singapore for the last 12 months; a great base to fly off to some of the excellent diving in Southeast Asia. But, go diving in Singapore waters? No way!

The waters around Singapore are turbid, oil slicked and polluted, mainly due to land reclamation projects, offshore islands covered in oil refineries and 1,000s of ships per day that tranship through one of the busiest ports in the world.

But I heard rumours that, close to one of the offshore oil refineries, you could find seahorses living on the remains of a small coral reef.

So I went out to see if the rumours are true or not:

Very nice video, thank you!

One of our common diving and training places is just downstream from a major Superfund site. Despite what have to be rather toxic waters, the cove supports an amazing variety of animals. Life is tenacious.
