Quite a few times for me. There were periods when they were regularly seen off Kho Bon. And then in Hin Mouang and Hin Daeng every now and then. Picture shot in Hin Mouang.

I do not remember ever saw a manta in Thailand.
The sitings of Mantas in Hin Daeng/Muang has declined the last years. Dived there first time in 1999, and when I came back in 2014-15 you would very often see mantas during the dives. In the years following there was fewer and fewer sitings. In the high-season 2023-24 the company I dive with only saw mantas on 2 trips. I was lucky to be in one of the trips, as we saw 2 devilrays and 2 mantas. The last high-season I did not hear of any sitings of mantas in Hin Daeng/Muang.

Yeah, it varies from year to year. Haven’t dived in Thailand the latest ten years. Dived there in the 1990’s (Similan/Surin/Phi Phi / Phuket) and the in the 00’s and 10’s (Lanta) on five different trips (a friend to the family spent five seasons as a instructor on Lanta Divers).
