On his way to the sandy flat that will become his permanent home in the Cayman Islands, the Guardian of the Reef is making an interim stop in Orlando where he will be on display at the Dive Equipment and Manufacturers Association (DEMA) Dive Show at the Orlando Convention Center November 6 – 9, 2012.  The sculpture will be at DEMA booth #1067 near the Cayman Islands section, so come by to meet the creature from the deep, say hello to Canadian artist Simon Morris who created him, and Jay and Nancy Easterbrook of Grand Cayman’s Divetech who commissioned the work to celebrate Divetech’s 20th anniversary.  Rogest, the artist who created the original painting of the Guardian will also be available at the booth.
After DEMA the sculpture will be shipped to Grand Cayman and, sometime in January, sunk on a sandy flat in 65 feet of water just off Lighthouse Point on the island’s northwest point where he will take up his sentry post guarding Cayman’s reefs.
