I've stopped looking at the gallery because it is so irritating to have to keep scrolling down to see the images.
The problem is the screen refreshes entirely every time an image changes and goes back to the top of frame. Then all the clutter pushes larger images out of frame requiring a scroll to recenter the image.
Slideshow Java apps that do not need to refresh the whole screen are very widely available. This would get rid of both the scrolling issue, the flicker and the waste of bandwidth.
If this is not possible a target at the top of the image could be used to prevent the scrolling problem.
