looking to add a strobe to my g11, DC34 housing.dont want it to get complicated is there a sea and sea setup that works well with this housing via slave or optical setup of some kind?

Pretty much any strobe they or Inon makes would work with a fiber optic cable, if you are getting a simple manual strobe (where you adjust the output for the image).

If you want some optical TTL (where the strobe mimic's the camera's and adjusts for the scene, then the price goes up, and the options go down.

I have a compact setup that I am satisfied with. The Sea & Sea YS-27DX is a manual strobe and very compact with 4 AA bats. It is discontinued but I'm sure still available. The YS-01 is now their least expensive strobe and has both Manual ans DS-TTL settings AND a built in focus/aiming light. It's more expensive than the YS-27DX. The tray/arm I bought from Nexell on eBay.

Be sure to COMPLETELY block the cameras strobe so as not to have any hot spots in your photos.

Hi Gilligan,

Your Bohol galleries never fail to impress.

Was wondering which ebay vendor you bought your arms and tray from?

How is the quality on those items?

You seem to be very active so I figured your rig must get worked out a lot and you would be in a very good position to comment on the quality / performance / value of the arms and tray.

I have a FIX S90 with S2000 Strobe that I am looking for tray and arms for.

now thats what I be meaning when I say keeping it simple. man pictures do the job. thanks.

Thanks for the compliment on my photos.

I bought both the strobe and the tray/arm from Nyxell on eBay. His prices are good and so is his service. He is a diver/photographer. I don't hesitate to recommend him. He is currently selling the same tray/arm and the YS-01 strobe along with other more expensive trays and strobes. He no longer sells the YS-27DX.

PS: I dismantle the arm sections on the tray about every 10 dives so that I can WD40 the long screws and wing nuts just to keep them working smoothly. I am completely satisfied with the tray/arms. This type of tray/arm offers more range of motion than the loc-line type, which I used for years with my old Olympus C4000Z setup.

Yeah, I am still using a flex arm with my s2000. It is actually quite convenient to use but I am thinking of adding another strobe as well as changing the arms and tray.

When underwater, do you find yourself tightening and loosening the knobs all the time or can the tension be adjusted just enough so as to keep the strobe in place while allowing movement and adjusting as necessary?
