I'm a Fish!
Greetings urchin divers,
Our gear drive is taking shape and we’ve acquired many great things to outfit new divers so they can participate in our urchin removal dives.
We also are actively still collecting old wetsuits that can be repurposed for tide pooling and rock picking purple urchins on low tides.
We’re collecting snorkeling and freediving gear also for people who want to do more than rock pick and would like to begin freediving.

We’re finding that gear is a barrier to participation and there are many people that would like to help but they can’t because they don’t have any gear and don’t have the extra cash to outfit themselves to take part. So having gear for them to use while they gain experience and comfort is a great thing. Later, when they are financially ready and want to upgrade they can buy new gear.

Meanwhile here is a list of stuff I have for our gear give away.
1). An almost new (2 yo w/ 6 dives) D1 Hog reg set with balanced second stage and regular octo and a compass and SPG in a mini console.
2). Brand new never used Aqualung i200 wrist computer/watch still in the box with instructions.
3). XL Scubapro Jet fins, brand new condition with only a handful of dives.
4). Two other pairs of paddle fins, Tusa and Dacor. They are perfectly good fins to use but need new straps.
5). A box full of masks probably half dozen in total.
All good masks, some fairly recent design some older but all in usable condition.
6). A few game bags for urchin collection.
7). Several old abalone irons that work well to remove stubborn urchins from rocks and collect i to bags.
8). A few snorkels
9). Misc stuff like a brand new finger spool, SMB in a pouch, a nice dive knife, a 4 lb weight mold, a couple lengths of rolled up weight belt webbing.
10). A lot of lead dive weights ranging from 2 lbs up to 5 lbs. enough to outfit three divers probably.
Other misc stuff that somebody may want like float tube covers, gear bags, etc.

So here are the rules.
You must be an active member of our urchin diving community. There are a lot of ghost members that get the text alerts but never show up to any dives or communicate or comment regarding the text alerts.
This giveaway is for the ACTIVE MEMBERS.
We also want to make sure this gear goes to people who truly need it that are financially challenged, not somebody that can afford new gear but is cheap and just want’s something for free. We are looking for someone that is starting out that participates but has to rent gear. We’re looking for people with drive, dedication, and ones we know will show up and dive with minimal excuses.

What we will do is have a lottery in spring.
I want to have a chance to get some dives going again once the weather allows to give our new membership a chance to participate and prove their willingness and commitment to this cause.
Anybody who feels they fit into the above mentioned group please PM me and your name will go onto a list. I will confirm the list later when we are getting ready to have this event in spring.

I will pull names from a hat for each item. If you don’t want an item, or already have a similar item to the one being raffled, you can withhold your name from the hat for that specific item, then put your name back for another item.
Once you win an item then your name will not go back into the hat.
If there are more items than names l will start the drawing over again with all the names until all the items are gone.
This is the fairest way I know to do it.

The regulator set and dive computer will go to someone already scuba certified.
So if you want to possibly win that you’ll need to get certified.

I will continue to list more items as they come in too.

Thanks!
Eric
