Great story.

I lived in SE AL in the mid-90s. I recall we got snow once just before Christmas. It covered the ground and was kind of nice but was gone in a day or so. I also remember spring break at Panama City Beach was kind of frozen out that year as a cold front from the north got really far south and people laying on the beach were wearing ski jackets.

I also experienced Hurricane Opal...kind of makes one nostalgic for an earthquake.

The weather idiots here must get paid commission by the Grocery Stores. They cause panic and pandamonia at the local grocery stores every time they cry "the sky is falling".

They'll have "Live Reports" from some parking lot and report "we just saw 3 flakes of snow falling and that road crews are preparing to close the bridges".

It's kinda humorous to watch....

Great report, I can't help but get a kick out of it, since last Wednesday we got about 4 inches of ice pellets overnight, and I couldn't drive to work that day. Then Friday and Saturday we got about 14 inches of snowfall, and now after shoveling out my driveway the snow banks that line the drive are a good foot or so taller than my car, which makes backing out of the driveway a little but touchy when you can't see what's coming! My dog loved it, other than the part when he had to pat down a small area so he could use the facilities.

I remember several years ago, I switched on the TV to watch a hockey game between the Ottawa Senators and the Carolina Hurricane, only to discover that the hockey game I wanted to watch, only to find out that my hockey game had been snowed out...in less than 2 inches of snow. But it was enough to shut down the entire city of Raleigh N.C.
