Gary Gentiles writings on this and the various court battles he had undergo to dive the monitor are excellent reads as well.
 
There was a write up in the news about an expedition (using an ROV) that revisited old wrecks
called "Valor in the Atlantic expedition" in May 2022 and had a good report about the Monitor.
The ship is in great condition considering its age and being cut into years prior.
