I want to publically thank all the members of scubaboard, the moderators, and lurkers, and anybody else associated with SB. As a single mom, finding the time to go diving, let alone finding a sitter, the time and a buddy has been a challenge for me. Living here in a divers paradise, you would think I could find a buddy no problem. The club thing was not my style, Been there, tried that. Not impressed. And surely I don't have the time or resources to hang out at a dive shop or on the beach waiting, hoping I could be a third wheel on a dive.

That was until I found Scubaboard. I have met some really neat folks, cussed at a few, and dived with a bunch. If it weren't for SB, I would never know what DIR, BP/W was, or knew I could dive for fossil teeth in Venice, or dive the springs. My knowledge of diving has grown tremendously (but not my spellin') thro reading the posts, and interest in continuing my dive education is awakening.

So, I just want to take this bit of space and say THANK YOU. You are an answer to prayers, and I am grateful to have this cyber family.

Let's go diving!

I agree with you 100%
Every question I asked was replied to in a professional way with more info than I exspected. I'm this happy i joined the SB

:mdance:

now I need to do some more diving so I can ask's some more questions.

As a single diver, I echo Jenny's sentiments. Even without children, finding a dive buddy can be tough. I have found several new dive buddies off the board that I would dive with anytime.

I think Jenny knows that she is on that list.

I also am in support of what Jenny had to say. This is a wonderful resource and one of the first places I go each day when I boot up my computer.

I found my drysuit here, and my X-wing, I found new buddies here, I learned about new places to dive, and dive techniques that make me a better diver. I like this place a lot better than my LDS, and I like my LDS a LOT. Says something about the folks here and how well mannered they all stay.

I tried newsgroups, and every time, one person, or several people will take it over as their personal forum to rant and rave and belittle other posters. Because this is a 'moderated' forum, that doesn't happen here, and makes it all that much better a place to frequent.

Thanks to you all, I agree with Jenny!!!

I think all is well said. I agree that I too have not only found a lot of good information but I have met a lot of people through this board. None of which I regret regardless of the exchange and many of which I never want to loose touch with. I have very good friends here, some of which I have never met and may never meet. Some I can't wait to met and some that I await to see again.

I too find myself drawn to the board by an unexplained pull. To all of those I have been fortunate enought to meet online or in person, get to know, and to all those I have had the pleasure of diving with as well as those I hope to dive with in the future, I am greatful.

I hope that the board continues to grow strong and that I have the opportunity to continue with it. I am looking forward to growing the DSD NDI after finals and I am excited to see the outcome. R

Yes, you and Dave are on that list as well. How could I pass up that great cooking on the grill? I still have January 3 circled on my calendar.

I think it might also have something to do with the sport of diving too. I have heard of non-divers that go down to the carribean for vacation meet divers and they can't say anything bad about divers or the whole dive group. It must be something that diving brings out of people, or maybe its the other way around. People who are interested in and/or actually dive have certain qualities.
Either way, you are all correct. This board has been an invaluable source of info and entertainment...
Can't wait to see what the "upgrade" is going to look like...
