I was just wondering if anyone out there knows roughly how long you need to wait to dive after getting a tattoo? I wanna take my certification next spring/summer...and I was going to be getting a tattoo around february/march...just curious if anyone has experience with this or if its a better question for a dr.??? Thanks!

I was looking into this a little while ago, and basically the recommendation I've found is anywhere from 2 weeks to a month. The most important part is for the scab to heal 100% before you soak your tattoo in any water for a long period of time.

don't soak it in water for 1 week. includes shower. just dab it. i would wait 2 weeks or until there is no more scabs . get your tats in the winter so they are ready for summer time.

Got mine on Wednesday, dove on Saturday. No problems.

I think i'm gonna try and get it in january if possible...its a b-day present so it will be january or feb. most likely...so i'm sure it'll be healed by the time I start diving in the spring/summer...but there are already a few other ones i'd like to get down the road...thanks for all the advice everyone!
