Hi we are comming the grand caymen October 25, staying on the east side ( time share). We will be diving there, but herd there are lots of shore dives on the other side. Where can we rent a tank and what is the price of gas on the island, ( not that we are enjoying cheap gas like we use to right? ) ha ha. and what is the cose of renting a tank? Also I was given a link to all the shore diving sites on the island... but it didn't have directions to get them??? is there a site out there that does?
thanks so much for all the info.

most of the shore dives on the west end are places with dive shops on site. So you would rent tanks at the place you are diving, not bring them in. Don Fosters, Sunset House, Eden Rock, Sundivers @Turtle Reef, Divetech @Lighthouse Point (or @Cobalt Coast, but much longer swim there.) I would suggest Turtle Reef or Lighthouse Point as the best choices.

Generally Cayman shops don't want their tanks taken off site. One reliable place you can rent tanks to go on the west end is Divers Supply which is in a strip mall along 7 Mile Beach. But there's not a ton of places on the west end to use them. Cemetery Reef comes to mind. Maybe Smiths Cove back towards the East End. There is in theory lots of shore diving on the East End, but can be challenging with long swims, and supposedly getting harder to find places where you can enter without trespassing. Cayman waterfront is lots of private property, and the wall is a long way out in some areas, so it's not like Bonaire.
