Hi All, a warm blub-blub to you. I am trying to find some info about good dive sites in South Carolina, but I was unable to locate any thread which collated such info.

I live in Germany, and will be visiting SC (near Myrtle beach) for a few weeks, as I'm working with a marine biology project there. During this time, I hope to get a few days off and nitrogenate my blood.

Given that I'm coming from a long way off, can you recommend some along the SC coast (or NC or north FL) that would be worth diving there? Can you also tell me about what sort of dive sites they are -- so I could choose? Heard something about sand tiger sharks and wrecks! :)

Also, would appreciate some info about how diving often works in the US? I've been a (very) tropical diver and typically in Asia, dive shops run a all-everything service meaning you hire gear from them, they take you out on a boat to the dive site, and then bring your smiling mug back to shore. Is this how it also work in the US?

I'm a NAUI dive master and would very much also like to join a group, if somebody is also interested to go diving the end of April. The dates are likely to be between 29 April and May 5th.

Huh? Anybody? Diving? Yeah!? YEAH!

google Express water sports they are located in Murrell's Inlet near myrtle beach SC. there site has all the sc diving options you could want. But if you are going to want to see wrecks drive two hours north of myrtle to Wilimington NC those shops will give you a great experiance. In the US you either bring your own gear or rent from the charter shop.

Water around Myrtle Beach could be pretty murky at that time of year - it was for us 2 weeks later. The farther out dives should be clearer - some are close to/in the Gulf Stream. We did several closer in wrecks, they're the only thing for miles except sand so the fish tend to congregate nearby.

We also used Express Watersports - they're in Murrell's Inlet a short drive south of MB (20 mins?) Coastal Scuba is another option in Myrtle Beach.
