This was posted in a different form within another thread so I apologize if you are reading this for the second time...
I purchased a Canon SX1 in Thailand about two months ago while I was there. I just read online that there is a firmware update available for the camera that will allow RAW shooting. This firmware matches the version that will ship with the U.S. cameras available next month (based on the canon usa site saying RAW shooting is available with the SX1). I found the link to the page that offers the update. Unfortunately, when I put in my camera's serial number, I get an error message saying there is access error. When I searched the internet for help with this issue, someone posted that they had the same problem and contacted canon about it. Canon's response was that the update was for Japanese cameras and this person would have to wait for a European update. So I am a little stumped. I checked the Thai version of Canon's site and there is no update available. The Japanese site rejects my serial number. I am unsure of how to get the update. The canon usa site does not show an update available. Even if it did, I'm sure my serial number is not one that would register on the USA site since it was purchased overseas.
Anyone have any ideas as to how I could get access to the update, or get the update from another source? I'm not sure what region my camera's serial number is associated with. One would think Asia but who knows. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
