I am a new recreational diver planning my first live board in Thailand this January.
What do you think is a good choice Zoop or D4

either is perfectly fine. But they're rather different in price, features, and size, so it's really a matter of what you want.

Some people like the watch style, it's easier to wear around out of the water. Others prefer the larger ones because it's easier to read the screen.

+1 on Damselfish's comments.

My girlfriend has the Gekko (essentially the same as Zoop), and she really likes it. The phosphorescent display is charged very easily and it doesn't require any battery juice. Great for night diving.

The D4 is nice wrist candy. As a handsome timepiece, the D4 has a better shot at helping you impress people topside.
If you wear the Zoop when you aren't diving, people will think you're a little odd. :)
