I just don't log dives
I have a three strike rule. If three things go wrong, thumb the dive. Last night, at least 5 things went bad... we still dive the dive, and we ended up thumbing it anyway... OY. But I digress.

Strike One was when I was getting suited up and turned on my Vytec... It showed the wrong time and date, then after it cycled it showed me at 422 feet... and it started counting up the dive time.

I'm presently in Gauge Mode. I pulled the batt. Replaced the batt - same thing. I pulled the batt overnight, and re-connected all this morning. Still 420-ish feet, counting up the dive minutes.

I saw a thread about this someplace here recently, but after 7 or 8 minutes of searching, I gave up.

Any ideas??? Suunto is closed for Easter, so I can't speak to them until Monday.

Has this happened to any of you?

Make sure you do your deco stop, don't want you to get bent. Call DAN, even if you are not a member........haha.

Maybe you were still in Web Bragging Mode, not Dive Mode.
If in Dive Mode, make sure the computer is set to Sea or Fresh, not Couch. ;)

Clean the contacts on the back with a soft toothbrush and mild detergent (gently please). The contacts can short out if things grow between them (things you can't see with the naked eye.)

How's the current down there? Need anything? Sandwitch? Light? Deco tank? Magazine? Book?

Replace the battery ... not sure that's the problem in your case, but I have noticed that the first indication that the battery in my Vytek needs replacement is that the depth readings get all whacky ...

Replaced batt. Scrubbed contacts. No go.... :(

I'll call Suunto on Monday. Man... I hate that this thing is going south after 500 dives. Hopefully it will get over itself. This thing has been rock solid since I picked it up, and I've not been kind to it. I love it.

Thanks, all.

Does your depth decrease when you carry the computer upstairs?

I'm back at Sea Level.

Pulled the batt - had the batt out since Sunday. Just re-installed it, fired it up, and it looks like its working. I have it in the dunk tank right now. We'll see. But I'm pretty excited.

Re-set the date and time... and its all good so far.

WOO HOO!!!!!!!!!!!!
