Suunto stinger dive transfering via usb

I have a stinger and i bought a pin to usb cable thinking that i could tranfer my dives to the computer.
I downloaded DM3 but after installing it no luck.
In the download wizard after selecting stinger as my computer,
in the select com port there is only blank,
no selections.
What should i do?

I never liked suunto's dive manager software.

I suggest you try Subsurface instead.

Well i neiteher do like the suunto software,
but my problem is with the connectivity,
i'll download the Subsurface and hope that will work.

Well even the subsurface after installing it doesn't let me do anything,
i get the message
Failed to read 'C:\Users\�����������\AppData\Roaming\Subsurface\�����������.xml'

I'm not certain, but that error seems to indicate that you were trying to import an existing xml file rather than downloading the dives directly from the Stinger via USB.

When you say 'Pin to USB' is that a single cable from the dive computer to the USB port or is it a serial to USB adaptor to connect older serial cable?
The reason I ask is that I have a DIY serial cable for my Suunto Mosquito and use a serial to USB adaptor cable to connect it to my laptop which does not have a serial port. I found that some serial to USB adaptors work whilst others don't.

Are you correctly setting the Stinger into download mode?
--> MEM --> TR - PC

1.I get the error message from the first time i opened subsurface and every time i open the application.
The app seems frozen to the main page,
i can do things, for example try to transfer dives from my computer,
but i cannot open a new logbook so i can start loging dives,even manualy.
3.Yes the computer is in --> MEM --> TR - PC
2.Well i have the original suunto stinger pc interface,
i bought a 9pin to usb cable,
and connect it to the computer.
I believe that's the problem.

The USB adaptor is probably the problem. You will need a better quality USB adaptor I think.

Does anyone have the pinout/construction details for a Stinger cable.?
looking for one and cannot find it at all
