For the life of me, I cannot find a version history for v1.6 I'm interested in knowing what fixes they applied over v1.51. Does anyone have any information on this? There doesn't seem to be a history or "about" file on suunto's website.

TIA,

-Pols

I purchased the Suunto Stinger with version 1.4 but I am a Mac person so I had to go out and by a P.C. laptop. The 1.4 version will not work with Windows XP So they said I needed version 1.6. I could not find 1.6 but downloading 1.51 fixed the problem. I dont think there is a version 1.6. I looked EVERYWHERE. Let me know if you find 1.6 thanks Chris

You can go their site and look under customer service/download service then choose the computer of your choice under PC softwear. Here is the link for the Vyper if you need it.

Who said 1.4 will not run on Windows XP?
I am using 1.4 (1.40.0.3141) downloaded off the Suunto site in 2003, on Windows XP on a DELL Laptop with no problems whatsoever.

My interface is DIY.

I am even using a COM delay of 10. When I used had Windows NT I had to play with this setting.

version 1.4 does indeed work with XP. 1.6 fixed a bug that suunto introduced with version 1.5 which caused the software to erroneously indicate that the interface was not found during the setup test. Only minor fixes as far as I can see from version 1.4 to 1.6.

Thanks Jamie. I take that to read that users of your interface can upgrade to 1.6 if it amuses them.

I have tried on 4 different computers and I cannot get the computer to recognize my interface. I have a vytec and am using 1.6. The computers were Windows 2000 and XP pro. The port is working and I used 30 for the timeout.I even tried it on a fresh install of XP with no other software on the computer to avoid software conflicts. Support had no ideas.Do any of you?

You do not need to buy a PC laptop to use the SDM and the cable.

You just need a Windows OS emulations software on Mac. Virtual PC works fine. As for the serial connection, get a serial to USB adapter. Install the drivers to emulate the serial ports using USB. It works. I am using this setup with the cable from Jamie.
