Hi all, I'm having issues with an ancient Suunto Eon air integrated computer (one of the really early models, not a Steel or Black) and am hoping someone can help.

A few dives ago, it started leaking air around the spg swivel (I've sometimes seen it called a spindle). I replaced the swivel and the leak is gone, but now the air pressure readings are really erratic. It will read the correct pressure for a few minutes, then suddenly start showing rapidly decreasing pressure until it hits zero, at which point it jumps back up to the correct pressure. It seems to be fine otherwise, and it only ever miscalculates pressure in a descending pattern; it never reads higher than the actual tank pressure, and as a tank is emptied, it continues to correctly calculate the pressure until it randomly decides that I'm out of air before going back to the true pressure.

Any guesses for what is going on? It is an old computer, but has been reliable until now (I've logged over 100 dives with it), has it's finally bit the dust?

It seems strange to me that this only started after changing the swivel, but I also don't see how they could be connected. The only thing I can think is that maybe when putting the swivel in, a bit of grease got pushed into the pressure gauge and that is causing the issues, but I struggle to see how that would cause this problem.

Also, just fyi, I had my first stage serviced, and the problem still persists. So it's for sure an issue with the computer, not the reg.

Thanks!

I should also have clarified that because this is an ancient computer, it does not use a transmitter. The air hose connects directly to the computer rather than going into a mechanical spg.

Maybe a sliver of an old oring lodged inside? I am airly sure some grease would not keep it from telling the correct pressure.
