I'm new to the board, can anybody help?

I have just bought a D9 and am wearing it as a watch. This means that I also wear it when I go snorkelling. Unfortunately this means that it logs a dive every time it goes slightly underwater.

It says in the manual that it is meant to start recording a dive when it goes deeper than 1.5 feet. Even without diving down it goes into dive mode on a swimming stroke, my arms are longer than 1.5 Feet!

Two questions:

1) Does anybody know if this can be adjusted so that it only goes into dive mode at over 5 feet?

2) I now have several logs of 1 second dives in the D9. Is it possible to delete these non-dives?

Many thanks.

Hello Mark. I have a D9 so here's my 0.02:

1) You should turn Dive Mode to OFF and the D9 will act only as a watch underwater. You can do this by clicking thru MODE button and then chossing UP OR DOWN button when dive mode is displayed.

2) I bought one from a friend who runs a dive shop and he told me there was no way to clear this from the D9. Maybe when the battery is removed or maybe with the Suunto Manager software (which I haven't used yet).

Cheers.

If it is like any other Suunto I have encountered, even a battery change won't wipe out the memory. The memory stores a set number of hours of dive time, and those dives will fall off the log once you exceed that number of dives. Good excuse to go out and do some more diving, no? :D

Like Johnny said, if you were it when swimming or snorkelling or swimming, set it to watch mode (turn dive mode off). Also, for snorkelling, there should be a freediving mode, if you wish to use it. I know my Mosquito has one, and I don't see why they would have dropped that feature on the D9.

Best of luck, and happy diving!

You are correct Gangrel the D9 does have a freediving GAUGE mode but it gets activated underwater just the same as the dive EAN and AIR modes.

The Suunto DM lets you Ignore Dives and delete them from the external log - I know of no way to delete "individual" dives from the computer itself ( at least not yet - I may see about that). I have a program that can erase the Dive computer logs but it clears everything not just a dive or 2.

to 'ignore' dives:
From the SDM in the 'dive computer' window select your computer and list the dives stored. Right click on the dive you want to ignore, now that dive will not be put back into the log. Then go up to the 'logbook' window and click 'all dives', right click on the dives you wish to delete. You have effectively remove those dives from the log - you'll still see them if you scroll through the DCs log but not on your PC.

That 'watch' mode sounds better and better, eh?
