Just wondering if this camera is even worth considering? I am looking for a basic point and shoot that takes decent pictures. I know there is a thread on this, but it got limited to about 3 models all over $150. I know that's not much to spend on a camera, but I thought I'd see what you thought of this one for $64.00...

Thanks!

Have you considered the Aquashot/Ikelite housing for disposables.

It's "point and shoot" and I have taken quite a few good shots with it.

Apart from the Aquasnap disposable, Kodak and Fuji make a disposables that also fits the housing.

In addition you can buy a regular compact camera from Fuji (or is it Kodak) called the Endeavor which takes Advantix type films.

Here's one of Aquashots many URLs

HI Murdock

It should say something like this

"Take the affordable AquaShot 3 on your next dive and discover how easy it is to shoot beautiful photographs underwater. Use most current one-time-use Kodak or Fuji cameras in the AquaShot, aim and depress the shutter button, and the focus-free 35mm camera takes the picture. You get beautiful, sharp color prints and 5"x7" or 8"x10" enlargements rivaling those taken by expensive underwater cameras.

You don't have to be an experienced photographer to get great results. Just remember to select subjects between 3 and 6 feet away and use flash cameras to bring out the vivid underwater colors.

#5435.31 ........ $ 70

No Experience Needed

Ultra-compact, lightweight AquaShot housing features an optical-grade glass lens, built-in hand grip with lanyard, accessory shoe, and sportsfinder for easy framing. Operates to 38m (125')."

If you are having problems hitting the site the try

Look for the Aquashot 3 series.

Let me know what you think of it

Cheers

I haven't heard of this camera. Can you give us a website or something besides the name?

I have several cameras Ranging fom Nikonus through Sea and Sea to this 'Cheap and Cheerful' little item - the Aquashot, which for convenience, easy operability and price you just can't beat.

The beauty of this item is that there are no electronics and if it ever flooded (flooding is the underwater photographers nightmare), only 1 x Disposable is ruined.

You can get strobes and a Macro kit for it very cheaply too.

It just depends on how much effort and time you want to put into your Pictures I suppose.

Here's another pic taken with the old Aquashot series 2

...and balance that with the cost of a camera.
