I actually have two of these lights and use them during night dives with my buddies.

They are negatively buoyant though and require something to make them float above the diver if connected to the tank valve.

I just used mine on two night dives last week. Worked great and I liked it that I can change colors as we dove as a larger group and there were all kind of light colors out there. I did not realize it was negatively buoyant - my buddies did not say anything so must have not been an issue. However, what did you use to make it buoyant? I think I would like that.

I tried a small plastic duck but it wasn't buoyant enough.

Looking at a small 250ml plastic water bottle now, but haven't gotten round to testing it.

What about those thingies that many boat owners have attached to their keys? Would that be floaty enough?

maybe a donut piece of pool noodle or a dense foam that doesn't compress?
Little donut or sleeve of syntactic foam? Not UV resistant though.
